Linksys' new home Wi-Fi package is a triple threat

The new Max-Stream router, range extender and USB adapter from Linksys are now available in Australia.

If your home Wi-Fi network is getting a little crowded, Linksys wants to upgrade you to a connection with uninterrupted prosperity. Available from today in Australia, the company has launched a trio of devices that aim to make sure you never need to look at a buffering screen again.

The Linksys Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router.

Linksys

It's on the pricier side, but the Max-Stream AC5400 Tri-Band Router is a top-shelf solution to the increasing number of wirelessly connected devices multiplying in our homes. It retails locally for AU$549,a and it's the first tri-band router capable of up to eight MU-MIMO streams.

MU-MIMO, or Multi-user MIMO, allows your router to communicate with multiple devices across different streams, as if each device was using its own separate router. Using MU-MIMO-compatible devices improves the overall efficiency of your network.

Linksys

The AC1900+ MU-MIMO Wi-Fi Range Extender is offering seamless roaming, so you won't need to swap Wi-Fi connections from your router to your Wi-Fi if you move from one coverage area to another. In another first, it's the only device on the market that'll offer you MU-MIMO and seamless roaming. It's also packing a built-in spot finder, so you can work out where to place it for the best coverage bump. It's going for AU$199.

Finally, the MU-MIMO USB adapter is the third in a trifecta of world firsts, and will plug into any PC to add MU-MIMO functionality. It sells for AU$59.

All three devices can be bought and used independently, but it's clear than Linksys is aiming to be the one-stop shop for a home Wi-Fi connection to end all home Wi-Fi connections. It's a pricey package, but if your home network is struggling to keep up with smart TVs, half a dozen phones, laptops and gaming consoles, it might be worth looking into. And when it comes to mainlining Netflix, too much is rarely enough.
