Lester Holt gets social media sympathy, sarcasm as debate moderator

Journalist Lester Holt let the presidential candidates have their say in Monday's debate, and social media had its say about Holt's moderation as well.

While Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump were the two main attractions in Monday night's presidential debate, social media saved a little time -- and in some cases, sympathy -- for debate moderator Lester Holt, who had to try and keep the whole shebang on track.

Social media had varying opinions on how Holt, anchor of "NBC Nightly News," performed. Some felt he was shrinking too far into the background, a la a certain cartoon father.

Some thought perhaps Holt would've benefitted from a few chances to catch his breath.

Others just felt Holt needed a little refreshment while the candidates raged on.
