Lenovo joins ranks of top chip buyers

With the merger of IBM's PC unit, China's Lenovo will become the ninth largest purchaser of semiconductor in the world, according to research firm iSuppli. The company is expected to buy approximately $4.3 billion worth of chips this year.

Hewlett-Packard still tops the list and will make an estimated $13.7 billion worth of chips this year. Dell remains second with $12.6 billion worth of purchases.
