We got one! Lego is turning an incredible fan-built Ghostbusters set into reality for the film's spook-tacular 30th anniversary. Buildin' makes me feel good...
Ghostbusters fan and Lego genius BrentWaller submitted a brick-built rendition of biblical proportions of the boys from the firehouse and their Ecto-1 car to Lego Cuusoo, a scheme for fans to submit designs for consideration as real sets. And the Danish company today gave the Ghostbusters paranormal playset the thumbs-up.
The set includes minifigs of Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler and Winston Zeddemore -- plus Slimer, of course -- complete with enough phantasm-fighting paraphernalia to make Yvette Fielding wet herself, from proton packs and neutrino wands to PK meters and ghost traps.
Other candidates in this round of Cuusoo consideration included a set of female scientists -- which is still under consideration -- a model of the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, and a set based on The Wizard of Oz.
The next round of possible candidates include fan-made sets based on Sherlock, Adventure Time, and The Legend of Zelda. If you're a Lego fan, look out this year too for an official Simpsons playset and the Lego Movie starring Morgan Freeman, Elisabeth Banks and Will Arnett.
