The Beatles' music have led to movies, cartoons and even a video game -- and next month their iconic "Yellow Submarine" will become a Lego set.
The toy company announced Wednesday that The Beatles' Lego Yellow Submarine set based on the 1968 animated film is releasing on November 1, featuring a submarine with just over 550 pieces to assemble along with minifigures for John, Paul, George and Ringo. A figure for Jeremy, a character from the movie, will also be included. The submarine measures 5 inches (13 centimeters) high, 9 inches (25cm) long and 2 inches (6cm) wide.
Along with the set announcement, Lego also posted to their YouTube channel a short movie showcasing the title ship and the Fab Four on an undersea adventure -- complete with the band having to re-assemble the blocks of their vessel while they rescuing a Lego fisherman.
The set was first announced in June as part of the Lego Ideas crowdsourcing platform -- a website that has featured proposed fan ideas for future Lego sets including those for Star Wars bobbleheads and Voltron.
Designer Kevin Szeto created the Yellow Submarine idea that won the company's pick, who according to Lego wanted to show his affection for the group through this Lego tribute that will now actually manufactured and sold in stores.
The set will cost $60 in the US, which roughly converts to £50 in the UK and AU$80 in Australia.
