JBoss on Monday released a beta, or test, version of Seam, development software designed to simplify Java programming for Web-based business applications. Seam is a "framework" that provides a single development model for building Java programs that conform to the Java Server Faces front-end standard as well as to the server-side Enterprise Java Beans 3.0 standard. Seam relies primarily on making annotations, rather than writing Java code, to build applications. The software is also designed to work closely with jBPM, JBoss' process work flow server.
Separately, the company on Tuesday released JBoss Microcontainer 1.0, server software for running and managing Java programs that will be used in version 5 of the JBoss Application Server.
