Inktomi inks streaming deal

Web search technology company Inktomi has signed a deal to use streaming encoding software from Pinnacle Systems. The streaming technology will be incorporated into Inktomi's products for internal corporate use and allow the company to offer audio and video Webcasting capabilities. The agreement comes as Foster City, Calif.-based Inktomi attempts with the company to extend beyond its traditional search software to media tools it hopes companies will install in their corporate networks, allowing them to distribute video, audio and business content.
