IBM has signed a $700,000 deal with Arizona State University to provide ThinkPad notebook computers for incoming graduate students in the College of Business. With this contract, IBM said, it displaces Dell Computer and Compaq Computer to become the exclusive provider of mobile wireless systems for the MBA program.
Students entering the College of Business must purchase a notebook computer as part of their curriculum requirements. The IBM ThinkPad T21 and X20 notebooks will be specially configured by IBM for ASU's wireless technology infrastructure. The agreement follows a pilot program there last year. ASU is located in Tempe, Ariz.
