IBM Australia announced it has won a contract worth $47 million (A$92 million) to supply up to 40,000 notebooks to the Australian government. Beginning next month, trainers and teachers at the Department of Employment Education and Training Victoria (DEET Victoria) will start receiving the new ThinkPad R30 notebooks. The deal also includes various services and will span the next three years, IBM said in a statement. In April, IBM won a $5 million contract from DEET Victoria for the supply of more than 1,600 Intel-based eServers.
