HP supports more clusters

Hewlett-Packard is supplying technology to support clustering of up to 24 of its broadcast servers.

Hewlett-Packard (HWP) announced at the International Broadcasters Convention that it is supplying technology to support clustering of up to 24 of its broadcast servers.

The HP MediaStream Server can now be clustered via Fibre Channel links that offer faster than real-time data transfers, according to the company. The ability to cluster HP servers means that broadcasters can create systems that can serve video content for as many as 24 channels.

Other standard features include RAID storage, MPEG-2 video compression, and a multithreaded operating system. Prices for the MediaStream server, which is aimed at pay-per-view or video-on-demand systems, start at $100,000.
