Hewlett-Packard has delayed its meeting with financial analysts so it can offer more concrete details on its planned acquisition of Compaq Computer, spokeswoman Rebeca Robboy said Friday. The meeting had been scheduled for early December but now is expected in January, she said. "We wanted to be farther along in the merger process," she said.
HP will combine the meeting with several regional briefings that already were planned for January, Robboy said. Analysts also had air travel concerns regarding security and end-of-year budget constraints, she added. HP announced a plan to acquire rival Compaq in September but currently is grappling with resistance from family members of the company's founders.
