Horror movies to be thankful you survived watching

Spend Thanksgiving watching these scary movies with killer turkeys, deranged family members and alien abductions. Just don't blame us if your family doesn't appreciate gore with their gravy.

Turkeys get their revenge in "Thankskilling" and "Thankskilling 3."

In Broad Daylight Films

When we think of Thanksgiving, many of us are reminded of pumpkin pie, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and a big roasted turkey. But what if that turkey decided to get revenge on every human who attempted to eat it? Or what if your house guests suddenly became targets of a serial killer? Or if, perhaps, your Thanksgiving meal was interrupted by some extraterrestrial creatures?

This Thanksgiving, instead of watching the usual Charlie Brown animated special or feel-good family movie, try these thrillers to make you thankful for never crossing paths with pure evil.

Some of these horror films take place during Thanksgiving when people think everyone is on their best behavior. But as we all know, holidays don't always bring out the best in people.

In the movies "Kristy," "Blood Rage," "Boogeyman," "Home Sweet Home," "Intensity" and "Thanksgiving," we see what happens when serial killers work out past family issues with violence instead of therapy.

In the case of "ThanksKilling" and "ThanksKilling 3," the threat involves a demonic turkey that wants nothing more than to torture every human it comes across -- making you realize being a vegetarian is healthier in more ways than one.

Many of these films are already streaming now on Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime. (Horror fans outside of the US should check their preferred streaming services as well.)

Here's a list of some of the most terrifying horror films we think you might like featuring serial killers, possessed poultry and aliens who are upset you didn't save them any pie.
