A report conducted by Computerworld magazine found that there will be a demand for Internet computer programmers, despite a report by business research group The Conference Board that the number of "help wanted" ads posted are continuing to decrease.
The report found that businesses are planning to hire full-time computer professionals for their information systems operations in 1996. Six out of ten firms in the South Atlantic states said they will focus on hiring IS professionals. Forty percent with revenues less than $100 million said they need more technical support because of online operations.
Most companies said they will stop hiring temporary workers and contractors and will focus on attracting full-time employees.
