'Goosebumps' trailer puts Jack Black to work scaring children

Sony Pictures Entertainment releases a new trailer for its upcoming film "Goosebumps," based on the popular book series of the same name by R.L. Stine.

The monsters from R.L. Stine's "Goosebumps" books are loose, and it's up to his niece and their new teenage next-door neighbor to save the town of Greendale (no, not that Greendale).

That's the premise of Sony Pictures' upcoming "Goosebumps" movie, and a trailer released on July 8 gives us our first look at Jack Black as the well-known children's horror writer. In the clip, we begin to get a sense of the plot for the "Goosebumps" movie. When a teenage boy named Zach moves next door to R.L. Stine's house and starts chatting with Stine's niece Hannah, Zach and a friend accidentally unleash all of the monsters from Stine's "Goosebumps" books.

It's up to Stine, Zach and Hannah to help save the town of Greendale, Maryland, from monsters like the Abominable Snowman, Pumpkinheads, evil clowns and all sorts of other creatures that go bump in the night.

You can watch the first trailer for "Goosebumps" above. "Goosebumps" has an expected release date of October 16 in the US, followed by an international release that includes Australia on December 26 and the UK in February 2016.
