Good news for Google Fiber TV owners who are feeling like the set-top box is getting a little stale. The company on Wednesday announced the biggest update to the service since its launch in 2012.

The interface overhaul brings in a new look and feel, both for live TV and recorded shows, that helps users navigate their content more easily. It also integrates show ratings and descriptions from Rotten Tomatoes.

The new software is already available on new Fiber TV devices. It will be automatically pushed to existing set-top boxes in coming weeks, product manager Lawrence Kim said in a post on the Google Fiber blog.

Another new Fiber TV feature will automatically recommend other shows or movies based on what a user has watched. Smart Search has also been improved and can quickly find what you're looking for using different search terms, including title, keyword, names of actors or sports teams, Kim said.
