'I, for one, welcome our new TPP overlords': Girt by CNET podcast 59

Yeah, yeah. We've got TPP and CSIRO job cuts and even American football. But trust us: It's the Simpsons screenshot search engine that you'll really love.

Culture

It seems like just yesterday that we were vaguely made aware of a shadowy cabal working in secret to etch out a 12-way trade agreement that would see Australia perched fitfully on the bottom rung of the ladder, desperately opening and closing its timid maw in the vague hope that crumbs might drop in from the upper reaches.

Well, that was actually 5 years ago and this week the Trans-Pacific Partnership has been signed by all parties. What does it all mean in terms of digital rights, intellectual property and you? We've got you covered.

Confusion reigns as the beleaguered CSIRO faces the cutting 350 positions from its Oceans and Atmosphere and Land and Water divisions, but with the intention of those jobs vacancies being filled by the agile and innovative.

Super Bowl 50 is on Monday February 8 and depending, on your personal views, it's either an interminable cavalcade of mystifying sport and half-time debacles or you've already got your excuse ready for when you call in sick on Monday morning. It also promises to be one of the most high-tech sporting events ever held.

Finally, forget VR, AR, IoT, drones or any of that guff: There's only one technology left to care about and that's the sweet science of isolating the exact screenshot for that perfect "Simpsons" quote. Please, say hello to the Frinkiac and farewell to your life.
