'Ghostbusters' director Paul Feig tweets first look at Ecto-1

What ya gonna ride to bust ghosts? The new film's director tweets photos of the new car that will be hauling around the specter-catching ladies.

The phantasmic four's sweet ride -- the Ecto-1 car -- returns in the upcoming female-led starring comedic actresses Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, set for release in July 2016.

"Ghostbusters" director Paul Feig tweeted a photo of the front and back of the new Ecto-1 car Tuesday night with the hashtag #whattheygonnadrive.

While the New York vanity license plate on this new car says "Ecto-1," it's a different model to the one used in the original 1984 "Ghostbusters" movie, or the Ecto-1a from its 1989 sequel, or the Ecto-1b from "Ghostbusters: The Video Game." It doesn't even resemble the adorable Ecto-1 kids Halloween costume from 2013.

Unlike the car Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Bill Murray and the late Harold Ramis drove in the original movies, this Ecto-1 model has ditched the vintage 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor ambulance/hearse chassis and retro fins for a more boxy, station-wagon look that harks back to the era the original movie was filmed. Fans on Twitter claimed it's either a 1983 Cadillac Superior or a 1984 Cadillac Fleetwood, both hearses.

All-important busting gear like the flashing light, siren and storage for proton packs, PKE Meters, Ecto goggles and various traps are still intact. The car also features one of the most important elements -- the famous logo.

Here's hoping we see the Ecto-1 get a few mod-cons, like a self-driving option and a decent GPS system. Though it would be fun to see the car have some of the features that were in the original script but never came to pass in the movies -- like the ability to dematerialize.

This isn't the first behind-the-scenes "Ghostbusters" photos director Feig has shared with fans on social media. Feig has already revealed first looks at the proton packs and the official uniforms the cast would be wearing.

We can't wait to see what Feig reveals next -- perhaps a look inside Ghostbusters HQ? Or a new version of Slimer? More please!
