Get a refurbished 4th-gen iPod Touch for $159.99

This is the current model, the one with the built-in cameras and Retina display. However, it lacks the one-year warranty you get with Apple refurbs.

The fourth-generation iPod Touch is also the latest iPod Touch. It's the one with the Retina display, dual cameras, and support for FaceTime video chat (which, I must admit, is pretty cool).

The lowest point of entry is a refurbished 8GB model, which Apple sells for $199. But today only, and while supplies last, Daily Steals has the refurbished 8GB iPod Touch (fourth-gen) for $159.99, plus $4.99 for shipping. That's the lowest price I've ever seen on this model.

Is there anything I can tell you about the Touch you don't already know? It's pretty much an iPhone without the phone (and therefore without the two-year contract and soul-crushing monthly bill). Heck, as long as you're in a Wi-Fi hot spot and have a headset, you can make cheap/free calls with apps like Skype and Truphone.

Although some people will find 8GB of storage too limiting, keep in mind that you don't necessarily have to store music and video on the device; you can stream them using solutions like AudioGalaxy, Pandora, and Netflix.

The Touch is especially awesome for kids, who can not only listen to music and watch endless "Fred" videos on YouTube, but also read books, play games, fool around with photography (and videography), and so on.

Daily Steals' product description says that the Touch comes with little more than a USB cable, but I spoke with a company rep who assured me that earbuds are included as well. The only hiccup here is the warranty: just 90 days, versus one year if you buy from Apple. Personally, I don't think there's much that can go wrong with a Touch (if you have a horror story, by all means share), so I wouldn't let that stop me.

I suspect it won't stop a lot of folks, meaning this could sell out very quickly.

Bonus deal: While we're on the subject of iPods, here's something a little different: Today only, AppSumo is offering a 12-step Udemy iOS Development Course for $89. Regular price: $250. Even if you have zero programming skills, the promise is that you can have an app ready for the App Store inside of four weeks. Time to cash in on your million-dollar idea!
