Get a 3TB USB 3.0 hard drive for $127.49

That's already a killer deal on such a big drive, but the USB 3.0 interface is icing on the cake.

She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts.

Need a mammoth backup drive to connect to your router, Pogoplug, or PC? No, really, I mean mammoth, as in the highest capacity you can buy.

While supplies last, Newegg has the Toshiba Canvio Desk 3TB USB hard drive for $127.49 shipped. That's after applying coupon code EMCJNNF79 at checkout.

Update: This code is now producing a "not valid" message, and the info on Newegg's product page indicating it was valid until Oct. 6 is gone. I've reached out to Newegg to get some explanation for this and will update the post if and when I get a response.

Update No. 2: According to a Newegg rep, although the code was indeed slated to stay active through Oct. 6, "funds ran out for that particular code early due to its popularity." How do you feel about that explanation? Personally, I'm getting a little ticked at vendors who can't "fund" or stock a deal that can last more than a couple hours.

If you've shopped around at all for 3-terabyte drives, you know that's a darn good price. A lot of them sell for $150 and up.

But the real icing on the cake here is the interface: state-of-the-art USB 3.0, not pokey old USB 2.0. (It is, of course, backward-compatible with the latter.) Assuming your computer has a port to match, you're looking at some blazing file-transfer speeds.

The Canvio Desk is your basic black monolith, one that stands about 6.5 inches. It's formatted for Windows, but can easily be reformatted for Mac use. Toshiba preloads NTI Backup Now EZ on the drive, giving you a decent backup solution right out of the box, but that's a Windows-only utility.

Another big reason I'm liking this drive: the three-year warranty on parts and labor. A lot of competing drives are covered for only one year.

This coupon code expires tomorrow, October 6, though there's every chance the drive could sell out before then. As of this writing, it's still in stock.

This is actually more storage than I need, but I've been looking for an affordable USB 3.0 drive -- and this definitely fits the bill. I may not fill all that space right away, but it'll be nice to have just in case. Your thoughts?

Bonus deal: Game time! Today only, GameFly has action-packed FPS Battlefield 3 (PC) for $10. This was the hot game last year at this time, when it sold for $39.99. Check out GameSpot's review.

Bonus deal No. 2: Another day, another free DVD ripper. In this case it's WinX DVD Ripper Platinum 6.9.2, which is available free today only from Giveaway of the Day. This version supports the iPhone 5 and promises to handle newer releases like "The Hunger Games."
