George R.R. Martin and J.R.R Tolkien throw down in rap battle

Two fantasy literature heavyweights take their beef to the mic, pitting "Game of Thrones" against "The Lord of the Rings." Caution: Some language is not quite safe for work.

The hairy-footed hobbits of J.R.R. Tolkien go up against the death-and-sex drama of George R.R. Martin in an insult-filled rap song that takes no prisoners. It's suspenders versus tweed and no author will emerge unscathed. The epic fantasy series "Lord of the Rings" and "Game of Thrones" butt heads in the latest Epic Rap Battle of History, posted Monday, and it's a doozy.

In case you've missed it so far, Epic Rap Battles of History is a YouTube channel that pits two celebrities or fictional characters against each other in knock-down, drag-out wars of words in the form of rap songs. Previous entries have included Jim Henson vs. Stan Lee and Deadpool vs. Boba Fett.

Tolkien arguably lands the greatest dis: "In book sales, you've got nothing to say. I'm No. 1 and 2. You're under 'Fifty Shades of Grey.'" It's up to viewers to decide which of these literary giants wins the day. Once you've survived the rap battle, take what you learned and test your wits against our George R.R. Martin quiz.
