GE offers secure commerce for businesses

GE Information Services launched an electronic commerce service called GE InterBusiness that provides secure business transactions made via the Internet.

GE Information Services launched an electronic commerce service that provides secure business transactions made via the Internet.

Called GE InterBusiness, the service is based on standard Internet protocols and allows users to conduct electronic data interchange, messaging, and file transfers through a secure pipeline.

The pipeline becomes established after the user's ID is requested by the firewall server. A secret key is then generated by GE's software. The server requests the user's password once the code is matched with the correct user. The entire procedure takes seconds.
