Facebook is searching for an executive to work with news organizations, according to a job listing this week from the social network. The advertisement for a head of news partnerships comes in the wake of criticism Facebook encountered after fake news stories repeatedly appeared on the site during the US presidential campaign.
The head of news partnerships will, among other tasks, "lead ongoing engagement with news organizations globally" and "create new forums for engagement with the news industry," according to the job posting.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has previously said Facebook is taking steps to address bogus news stories, including creating technical tools for spotting fake news before it's flagged by Facebook users and working with third-party fact-checking groups to vet stories.
Facebook didn't immediately return a request for comment.
