Emma Stone is superhero Spider-Gwen in this parody trailer

A trailer for the fake movie "Spider-Gwen" imagines Peter Parker's girlfriend as the one bitten by a radioactive spider.

What if Gwen Stacy, and not Peter Parker, had been bitten by the radioactive spider and turned into a superhero?

That's the premise behind the latest fake movie trailer in New York Magazine's "Vulture Remix" series. It imagines an alternate reality in which Spider-Gwen takes on the role of a superhero battling a new version of Spider-Man's villain, the Vulture, based on the character Birdman from the hit 2014 movie of the same name.

The video, posted Monday, is based on the Spider-Gwen character from two recent Marvel comic book series -- 2014's Spider-Verse and the 2015 "Spider-Gwen" series that debuted in February 2015. The "Spider-Gwen" series follows the superhero on her many adventures throughout the alternative universe.

In the fake trailer, Emma Stone stars as Spider-Gwen, naturally, and the clip uses several of Stone's scenes as Gwen Stacy in "The Amazing Spider Man" movies. Cosplayer Julianne Cancalosi stood in for those action scenes, donning the Spider-Gwen suit featured in the Marvel comic book series.

Video artist Alex Coulombe pieced together the scenes to create a compelling trailer for a "Spider-Gwen" movie we wish were soon becoming a reality.

Sadly, a movie or TV series isn't in the cards for "Spider-Gwen" anytime soon, but those looking for a strong female lead can tune in to Marvel's upcoming Netflix series which is streaming on November 20 everywhere Netflix is available.
