Lagardere and its subsidiary Hachette Filipacchi Medias say they have created a new division in North America that will focus on the development of electronic media, including cable, interactive TV, wireless, broadband and the Internet. The new venture will be called Lagardere Active North America. Jack Kliger, who has been serving as chief executive for Hachette Filipacchi Medias, has been appointed chairman of the new division. Benjamin Tatta, former senior vice president of USA Network's Interactive division, will be chief operating officer.
Hachette Filipacchi Medias publishes more than 200 consumer magazines in 33 countries and its subsidiary, Hachette Filipacchi Magazines, has 18 consumer titles, including Elle, Metropolitan Home, Premiere, American Photo and Travel Holiday, among others. In the fall, the company is launching Elle Girl. The new division will aim to extend the company's brands and will also introduce new content categories.
