Doom gets ever-so-brief teaser ahead of E3

Seven years in the making, we get a whole three seconds' worth of game footage. Fortunately, we won't have to wait long for a much deeper look.

Video-game developer Bethesda wants you to get excited about the upcoming launch of Doom. But, that doesn't mean it's ready to tip its hand just yet.

Expected to show up at E3 2015 in June, the long-awaited game has finally received its first teaser video. And boy, what a tease it is. At barely 10 seconds, we get only a fleeting glimpse of footage accompanied with confirmation of a worldwide gameplay reveal on June 14.

Tucked inside the brief clip, we see that the Revenant are back for the reboot. For those that don't follow the Doom franchise, these are skeleton-like demons with shoulder-mounted missile launchers. Pretty awesome stuff, no?

Doom was first released in 1993 and is considered a pioneer in the genre of first-person shooter games. After spawning two sequels, however, it has been more than 11 years since the last title was released for console and computers.

The annual E3 trade event runs June 16-18 and figures to be as exciting as ever. Among the rumored game announcements for this year are Minecraft: Story Mode, WWE 2K16 and Fallout 4.

CNET will be in attendance at E3, providing a first-hand look and early impressions of all the new hotness.
