Concert executive joins "virtual" ISP

Joel Peterson, an executive at Concert, the communications joint venture between AT&T and British Telecom, has been named chief executive of Sharinga Networks, an Australian-based Internet service provider. Peterson, 37, previously served as senior vice president for strategy and corporate development at Concert. Prior to Concert, Peterson worked for BellSouth. Sharinga, which is affiliated with Australia's FreeOnline and in which Concert holds a minority stake, plans to offer "virtual" ISP services to business customers. Virtual ISP services allow a company to offer Internet access while leaving the technical aspects to an outsourced provider such as Sharinga.
