Comcast, Fox strike S.F. HDTV deal

Comcast digital-cable subscribers in the San Francisco Bay Area will be able to receive HD broadcasts from Fox affiliate KTVU Fox 2.

Starting at 8 p.m. Thursday, Comcast digital-cable subscribers in the San Francisco Bay Area will be able to receive HD broadcasts from Fox affiliate KTVU Fox 2, a move driven in part by the upcoming Super Bowl XXXIX. The agreement was part of a larger deal between Comcast and 14 other stations owned by Cox Broadcasting, the parent of KTVU. KTVU Fox 2 is the exclusive Fox affiliate in the Bay Area.

The NFL championship game airs on Feb. 6 from Jacksonville, Fla.
