Just posted: Nikon Coolpix S600 review.
I'm not too proud to steal a good idea, in this case Katz's most excellent podcast, as well as crappy weather that can delay field testing, and, well, not as many reviews will get posted as we'd like. Thankfully, I still have Matt Fitzgerald trapped in our camera-testing lab to do the heavy lifting of target shooting and analysis, and have recently gotten the go-ahead to start freelancing out some reviews again.. I, too, get besieged by e-mails asking when we're planning to review camera x, why haven't we yet reviewed camcorder y, as well as escalatingly irritated e-mails as to why I failed to respond to a reader's previous e-mails regarding the previous two questions. And since today is Phil Ryan's last day with us, I, too, have just become a lone reviewer staring down an onrushing tide of the almost 200 new products in my categories announced since the beginning of the year (not to mention the 30 or so announcements I expect over the course of the next few months). Toss in the review videos, blogging, weekly newsletter, and
So here's what we've got imminently on deck--reviews you should expect to see over the next few weeks (in no particular order):
Nikon Coolpix P80 Olympus Stylus 1030SW Nikon D3 Casio Exilim Pro EX-F1 Canon ZR950 Creative Vado
And here's the top of the list of the 30 or so products we've got on hand awaiting their turn in the lab over the following weeks. Some popular products that should be on the list aren't yet, but I won't bother you with my product acquisition woes. (FYI, I prioritize reviews based on internal traffic metrics that have shown to be satisfactorily representative of which products people are interested in. So bombarding me with e-mails requesting that I move something up in the queue will not persuade me differently. Unless you're my boss. Or his boss.)
- Nikon Coolpix S210
- Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5
- Canon PowerShot SD790 IS
- JVC Everio GZ-MG330
- Canon FS100
- Canon FS11
- Canon PowerShot A580
If you don't see your potential favorite here, that doesn't necessarily mean it won't be reviewed within the next couple of months--it just means I don't want to get your hopes up. Hopefully, we'll fill Phil's job soon (though no one can really replace him) so that the reviews machine can grind a bit more quickly.
