On today's show, we discover that he may not be a fan, but Rafe makes a mean Mario for Halloween. We give him a good sendoff with cake and bourbon as Brian Tong prepares to join the show. Oh, and there's news: Facebook wants to try out peer-pressure ad targeting, Boxee gets some painkillers and a bedpan and gets sent home from deathwatch. And the best iPhone costume ever. --Molly

Regarding the closing of yesterdays episode on a la carte tv, I have something of a monkey wrench to throw in to that. I use Cox and a service man came out fix an issue the other day. I asked him about a la carte and one thinig he said (for example) was that ESPN was something of a loss leader for them. Fees for other show help cover the cost of ESPN b/c it gets subscribers in the door and keeps them. The second thing was that a la carte is a messy issue with networks specifically b/c they have their hands in so many studios, shows, stations, etc. that it would be difficult to divide up every subset exactly according to any pricing scheme. So until the networks can get their books in order, a la carte may not be as low level (per channel) as we want.
