'Super Troopers 2' is looking good to Indiegogo

The comedy group behind the original "Super Troopers" movie wants to make a sequel, and they've turned to Indiegogo to raise funds to bring the goofy Vermont state troopers back to your TV in 2016.

Broken Lizard, the comedy troupe behind the cult comedy movie "Super Troopers," has announced that 14 years after the original film, the time for a sequel is right meow.

The company has launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund "Super Troopers 2," which will feature the same five actors who played the wacky troopers in the original film. The group told Variety that Fox Searchlight Pictures will release the film once it's completed, but the deal required Broken Lizard to raise all of the money itself. As long as the campaign gets $2,000,000 (about £1,340,000, AU$2,550,000) by April 24, "Super Troopers 2" will go into preproduction in May with a targeted release date of early 2016.

The campaign has already been backed to the tune of over $1.8 million, or 93 percent funded, making it very likely that Broken Lizard will be able to raise the funds needed to make "Super Troopers 2" a reality. There's still a month left to back the campaign for those interested, of course, with multiple funding levels scoring backers different perks like tickets when the movie is released, Twitter shout-outs, T-shirts, fake mustaches and even private theater screenings for those who pony up the big bucks.

"Super Troopers 2" is ideally expected to land in theaters sometime in 2016, and Captain O'Hagan is still ready to pistol-whip the next guy who says, "Shenanigans."
