Autodesk moves execs in consolidation

Autodesk is shuffling executives around in a move to fuse its product and sales groups into one business unit. The company makes design software geared toward the architecture and construction markets. Carl Bass, executive vice president, will lead the new Design Solutions Division, which has been reorganized to combine the manufacturing and building industry product groups with the company's sales and marketing teams. Doug May is being appointed vice president of sales for the new Design Solutions unit, reporting to Bass. Mike Sutton, who previously ran sales, will become executive vice president of Business Operations. Autodesk CEO Carol Bartz said the moves would give the company "greater market agility," since the product and sales teams will work as a single unit.
