All Optical Networks raises $6 million

All Optical Networks said Thursday that it has raised $6 million in a first round of financing led by ForeFront Capital. The company will use the financing to bring its telecom equipment to market. AON expects that its initial product, called the MetroScout, will be ready for customer trials in the fourth quarter this year. The MetroScout works in metropolitan optical networks, which handle data traffic within cities. The device sends multiple signals at the same time as one complex signal, which gets deciphered at the receiving end.
