Adults only: Tinder bars users under 18

The dating app company says that, as its platform grows more powerful, it has a responsibility to younger users.

It was hinted last week that Tinder would soon do more to help its transgender users. Now, the company hopes to help minors -- by not letting them use the app altogether.

"On a platform that has facilitated over 11 billion connections, we have the responsibility of contantly assessing our different user experiences," read a release from Tinder, according to TechCrunch. "Consistent with this responsibility, we have decided to discontinue service for under 18 users.

We believe this is the best policy moving forward. This change will take effect next week."

Until now, users between 13 and 18 have been in their own Tinder world, not showing up on the app for any swipers over the age of 18.
