ActiveVRML will allow consumers to interact with Web pages and hear sound effects. Content authors can embed their existing VRML models inside ActiveVRML. Microsoft officials said they expect ActiveVRML to be used for advertising, education, and entertainment.
The beta specifications of ActiveVRML are currently available within the Microsoft site. Microsoft will provide ActiveVRML support for platforms including Windows, Windows NT, and Macintosh by incorporating the language into its Internet Explorer browsing software.
