56-kbps upgrade for ISP servers

U.S. Robotics is offering a 56-kbps upgrade package for Internet service providers that use its equipment.

U.S Robotics (USRX) is offering a 56-kbps upgrade package for Internet service providers that use its equipment.

U.S. Robotics today announced the shipment of its x2 56-kbps technology for servers it makes that are used by ISPs. The company claims that more than 400 ISPs and online services are supporting its x2 56-kbps technology.

Because of their software-based architecture, servers from U.S. Robotics, including the Total Control Enterprise Network Hub server, are upgradable to x2 technology via a software download, enabling ISPs to quickly and easily upgrade to x2, the company said.

ISPs can download new software for U.S. Robotics' Total Control Enterprise Network Hub servers by going to the Upgrades Web site, the company.

All U.S. Robotics x2 modems now shipping are software upgradable, as well as all "existing remote access servers," the company said.
