From Portrait Mode and Portrait Lighting to dual optical image stabilization, here are the best camera features on the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X.
iPhone X dual OIS
Apple's iPhone X has dual rear cameras with dual optical image stabilization. The only other phone with dual OIS is the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
iPhone X dual rear cameras
The iPhone X comes with dual rear cameras: A standard wide-angle camera and a telephoto camera. The telephoto lens on the X has an aperture of f/2.4, compared to f/2.8 on the telephoto lens of the iPhone 8 Plus.
iPhone 8 and 8 Plus cameras
There is a single standard angle rear camera on the iPhone 8. The iPhone 8 Plus has the same camera alongside a second rear camera with a telephoto lens.
iPhone 8 Plus dual cameras
Like last year's iPhone 7 Plus, the iPhone 8 Plus has dual rear cameras: a standard angle with an f/1.8 aperture and a telephoto with an f/2.8 aperture.
iPhone 8 Plus 12-megapixel sensors
The dual cameras on the iPhone 8 have brand-new, 12-megapixel sensors that Apple claims will give photos and videos better color saturation, wider dynamic range and lower image noise.
iPhone X vertical cameras
The dual camera bump on the iPhone X is in a vertical position, compared to the horizontal position of the bump on the iPhone 8 Plus.
Portrait Lighting
A new feature on both the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X is Portrait Lighting, which allows you to sculpt lighting to best fit your subject. It isn't a filter, but rather does a real-time analysis of lighting on your subject's face.
Augmented reality
All three iPhones are designed with augmented reality (AR) in mind. One demo showed an AR app for baseball that displays player information above the actual players during a baseball game.
iPhone X True Depth camera
The iPhone X uses what Apple calls a True Depth camera to unlock your phone with Face ID. The same camera can work alongside the front-facing camera to allow Portrait Mode and Portrait Lighting for selfie photos.
4K and super slo-mo video
All three new iPhones have even better video capabilities, being able to shoot 4K video at 24 and 60 frames per second (fps) and 1080p video at 240 fps.
