Western Digital My Book 3.0

>> Dong Ngo: If you've been wondering if you wanted a USB 3.0 port for your desktop computer, what I have here today is a big yes. Hello. My name is Dong Ngo, and this is the My Book 3.0 external hard drive from Western Digital. First of all, this device come with a PC [inaudible] express USB 3.0 add-in card. This mean it doesn't matter if your computer is old or new. You are going to to be able to add USB 3.0 to it. The card come with both high and low .5 brackets making it fit both the regular and slim-form desktop computers. The installation of the card is simple provided you know how to operate a screwdriver and follow this colorful quick set-up guide poster. The extra hard drive itself is also very easy to use. It's a tiny white line on the front that show it starters and activities. On the back, you can find mini USB 3.0 port to be used with and included USB cable. Note that USB 3.0 requires a different cable, and you won't be able to use the existing USB 2.0 cable with it. The micro drive, however, is biocompatible with previous versions of USB. This means if you computer doesn't already have USB 3.0, and you don't want to install the card, the drive will still work with any of the existing USB ports. Just at slower speed. Much slower that is, you know, while testing the My Book 3.0 XL with USB 3.0, it was from two to three time faster than any of the USB 2.0 counterparts. Even when used with USB 2.0 ports, the My Book 3.0 was still very fast. This great performance plus the add-in card make the drive worth its price. The My Book 3.0 comes in two version. A 1 terabyte that costs around $200, and a 2 terabyte that costs around $280. For more information about its performance and features, check out the in-depth review at cnet.com. Once again, my name is Dong Ngo, and this has been the first look at the My Book 3.0 external hard drive for Western Digital.
