We say goodbye to the show by toasting the future (Tomorrow Daily 411)

Culture
On today's show we check out and deep dive into fancy smart tattoos, Audi's plan to make its cars talk to traffic lights, and also Intel's Project Alloy which is untethered VR. Then we yank producer Logan in front of the camera. So that we can reminiscence about the last, what? 400 episodes of this show? 411 but who's counting? Tomorrow Daily. [MUSIC] Greetings citizens of the internet, welcome to Tomorrow Daily, the best geek talk show in the known universe. Until tomorrow. [LAUGH] In which case, there will be no best geek talk show in the known universe. You know what, we should have done a pageant this episode. We should have crowned a new best geek talk show. That would have been good, that would have been really good. In the known universe. I'm Ashley Esqueda. I'm Jeff Cannata. And this is our final episode of Tomorrow Daily. Fear not. We have a new show coming. Ashley and I will be doing a new show. But. It's a pretty big day. It is, it's a sad day. But also, I'm very proud of what we've done here. You should be, I'm proud to be a part of it. I know I came on fairly late in the process, but it has been an absolute pleasure. We'll get to all that fun stuff at the end. Yeah, we'll totally get to that, so let's get to the other fun stuff, which is our headlines. [MUSIC] When we talked about Duoskin, well I wasn't here when we talked about Duoskin. Yeah. Earlier in the week. And there is nothing I'd to talk about more right now because I have seen this flash tabs who's on girls at Coachella and Music Festivals. And now, I feel like I can also get in on that hot flash tattoo action because and they're smart tattoo's, these are smart tattoo's. Yeah, finally, the technology has caught up with Coachella. [LAUGH] Finally, this guys It's here. This is awesome. This is a collaboration between MIT's media lab and Microsoft research. So yeah, you're seeing exactly what's happening. I mean, these are temporary golf leaf tattoos. They apparently use gold leaves cuz it conducts Very well. Also it looks rad. Also it looks so awesome. And so these metallic tattoos that you're able to actually control inputs. There's touch inputs, you can tap stuff. There are some that change color, which I thought was really neat. I love that your able to sort of show exactly where you're touching on a grid. Yeah? As the input device. The one that changes color, they were saying might be good in the future for. People who maybe have low blood sugar. Right. Or I mean, there's all kinds of really cool kinda ways to do this and utilize this technology, even if can't test your blood sugar levels, your phone would be able to tell that tattoo to changed based on- Pretty amazing. Stand up, like the flower's blooming or whatever. Yeah. It's sort of a little reminder. Is pretty neat. They did NFC, they did these really cool, just fancy, fashion only LED necklaces which I desperately need in my life immediately. But it's really awesome, the way that they're doing this, and it's not too hard. They use this simple vector making program. Yeah. Then they print them out. Well the difference, too, is you've seen a lot of these False skins that they put on that look crappy. These actually look neat. Yeah, they look cool! And I think that's the first step in making them accepted by people, is that they look cool already. I agree, they have to look cool, they have to look futuristic. Has to be fashionable. Yeah, people have to want to wear them. And I think that that's something that a lot of companies sort of lose sight of as they're building something. And this to me seems like the best of both worlds, where it's You know again, functional but also it looks cool. It looks like something you would want to wear around and you wouldn't be embarrassed having it strap to your pen. Right. You know, it wouldn't be some weird like clunky giant bracelet or you know things like that. So this is really need. I have also the idea like having. Like a circlet one that you just put here- On your forehead? Just from here to here. And a little crown like Wonder Woman. And it has an LED in it. You have an LED in it for Halloween. That would be really [UNKNOWN]. [LAUGH] Just power me down. Just Touch my forehead and I just go to sleep. I just go to sleep. And I love that idea so much and there's so many different things that we could do with it. Yeah you get on a lot of the cool use cases and I think that just scratches the surface. As you said, if you could sort of tie this stuff to a phone that more processing power, the sky's the limit on how you can interact with apps or how apps could give you feedback. So yeah, the color change is cool. Giving you something sort of read out that's right there on your skin that's not a wearable. I would even say there is a potential for this to be permanent. Like if there is a way to make this permanent, I think people would start doing it. Sure, well if you have the sort of a longer temperate tattoos that don't just last a couple of days. Like even these gold leaf ones now, they last a couple of weeks. Yeah. If you put them on properly with alcohol and you do it right, they can last for quite a while. You mean like, you drink. You gotta drink while you do it. [LAUGH] Yeah no, like the application process helps Lasts a little bit longer even after you take showers and all of this other stuff. So I think there's a real possibility there even just to have sort of a long term one like have them for a year or six months or even like eight weeks would be great. How many of them would I have to have on my to be more machine than man? So many. Okay, well I'm working on it. You have to eat them as well. Delicious gold leaf. You just gotta put them on your arms, eat them. That would be, yes I think that's- Alcohol also helps with the application that way [LAUGH]. Very much. It's a chaser, you gotta chase it down. Okay, so let's talk about city infrastructure because that's one thing I think It hasn't changed at all or- Well, it's slow to change. So very slow to change over the past few decades like ever since you know, highways started becoming really prevalent and cars really started getting into people's lives like on a regular basis. Audi wants to make some of its cars, later this year, this is a very imminent thing. They want them to talk to red light, report to red light, and the car talks to the red light, and it, the red light tells the car, hey man, I've got like 20 more seconds left before I'm gonna turn green. Yeah. And it gives you that information on either your HUD or your gauges. Right. And so, the idea here is not To as we said earlier this week encourage street racing because really to us that feels like exactly what it's for. You get your five second countdown and then all of a sudden you're off to the races. But I really love this idea of helping with efficiency. So we've seen a lot of kind of infrastructure ideas with smart, connected cities. And connecting cars to the city to make sure A, you can find parking spaces, easier. Mm-hm. That's a really good one. Huge. Huge deal, being able to understand, and the other thing about this that I think people don't consider is That's data that goes back to the city. Yeah. So they can say hey, this light doesn't work. Right. Or it's too long or too short or whatever that is it's causing congestion we need to fix it. Yeah. And I think that's sort of a really key component here and having the city be interested obviously. Right. And how do you do something like this? Well, first of all I already do this, I turned my head slightly to the right, I did it too. And I looked at the walk symbol, you don't walk at counting down on the light and here we go. So I love to have just in my dash and secondly I would say that the really exciting part of this isn't just when the light is communicating to my car although I did that It's when my car's communicating with the light, and all cars are communicating with all lights, and so we can have a much more efficient system. In LA, we already have several long blocks that have coordinated greens. Yeah. So that you're not just going a little ways, and stopping, going a little ways. It's like, we're green for a while, and those are all coordinated. [UNKNOWN], then you slow down. For a whole strip, blocks and blocks and blocks. And that actually has a very big effect on traffic. It works. So when a light can sense that there are no cars for a long time in either direction, and it doesn't have to put a red light on, it can alleviate some of those traffic woes we deal with every day. And that's what I'm more excited about, these more connected cities. That had a two-way conversation with all the cars all the time, and then you have an AI that is coordinating the most efficient system. Yeah, it's like ground traffic control. But it's an automated sort of set up where you would have an AI. Sort to say, okay, like I see, these are some problem areas. We can fix these, let's adjust, and it's all done in real time. Yeah. And I think that such an exciting thing for a future of anybody city. Even if you have a smaller town like it's a great thing, it's not a bad thing at all. Right. The one stop light. The one stop light. In your town is like Super smart. Your car can talk to it, it's amazing. I mean, I've screamed at red lights for so many years that I'm glad my car will do that now for me. It's like really exciting. My memories as a kid where my dad, trying to guess when it would turn green. And green. Are you gonna do that to your kid? Of course, gotta pass that on. [LAUGH] But now my car will be able to tell me exactly where it is. Now you won't even need. Well, no. You could just pretend you're magic cuz you'll know but your kind won't know.. Yeah. And you'll be like, and go. Yeah. And then always gonna turn green. He's gonna think you're a wizard. Gonna be amazing. That's another thing my dad did, real quick, is the defrost button. It didn't have like a label, it just had a cool symbol on it for the defrost And my dad told me it was turbo boost. Perfect. And pushed the gas. And gun it? I was like, that is the coolest thing. Now you can have to too. Dad. Like Ludacris mode. I'm thinking a lot about dads lately. I know, I know. [LAUGH] it's on your mind. Lastly but certainly not least, let's talk about Project Alloy because this is very exciting virtual reality technology that I am so desperate to have in my life but I'm going to have to wait a little while. So Project Alloy's intel at IDF They have a developers conference. They announced Project [UNKNOWN] and I know there is in fact one cable coming out from it but it was just for the purposes of this prototype demo. Intel showed off this headset that has no cables, it's not tethered to anything, you would be able to set it up. And then also, it has no controllers. Right. That was the other thing that was pretty amazing. All the processing is happening inside the headset so it doesn't need an external processor of any kind. No cell phone. No computer. It's not that it's communicating wirelessly with anything, it's that it's literally self-contained. It is the computer. Pretty much like HoloLens in that way. Yeah. Except virtual reality instead of augmented. And so the other thing was there's no external sensors. So You don't have to set up these external sensors that you have in the case of Vibe where it needs to know where you are in the space. Because in the headset between your eyes, up top there, it's got two depth sensing cameras. And so it's able to actually see your hands. In virtual reality as controllers and as things that can interact with other objects, which really is the dream of virtual reality, you wanna be able to use your hands. Right. That's- And you wanna be completely free to walk wherever you need to walk without worrying about sensor range- Sure. Or cable range. And this, I think, is where all this technology is headed and where it will finally be that transcendent experience. I love VR as it stands now but when you can literally put it on anywhere. [CROSSTALK] Plays. Yeah. That's amazing. Yeah. I love this idea of being not land cafés but VR cafés. You're able to bring in your headset Yeah. And set it up and have these experiences in a blank room basically. Yeah. Sort of like a mini version of The Void. They're just a series of those storage spaces that you can rent in. Yeah. Eight by eight. Now, it's a VR house. [LAUGH]. Yeah, 80 bucks could about pay for my VR house. Yeah, right. That's what I do. Yeah, this is a great idea, and I think Intel's on the right track here, of course, just like anything else that they've made in the last few year, the Edison chip. All the different technologies we've seen them announce at things like CES, really these are for purchasers. Companies, manufacturers who wanna incorporate that technology. Right. So they said, like we were saying yesterday, it will be at least until the second half of next year Until potential interested parties can even get their hands on a prototype and then beyond that they have to make all the deals to license the technology and pay for it and all this stuff and then develop something. So it's going to be quite a while. Yeah this is like a five to ten year thing when we legitimately have consumer self-contained VR units. But we're going there and it's headed there and it's certainly an Intel interest to make it happen because it's all about computing powers. Sure. And so, And in five to ten years who's to say that maybe HTC and Oculus might incorporate, Right, I'm sure this type of technology a hundred percent, like I'm sure that The goal, right. So this is a true glimpse into an actual future that we can see that is realistic and really, really fun. It's really exciting too. Yeah, really really good. That's it for our headlines, our very last deep dive. Yay. We are gonna reset a little bit, we're gonna take a quick break. We have some very nice messages. From ex-co-host because Brian Bishop sent us this very nice message and he's co-hosted with us more than I think any other non-permanent co-host. So he sent us a very nice message. Let's take a quick break. We'll come right back and we'll have producer Logan on set and we'll talk about Tomorrow Daily. So stick around. What's happening Tomorrow Daily? It's your favorite Recurring guest Brian Bishop, and I just want to say thank you so much for having me on so many times. I guess either you saw something in me you liked, or a guest dropped out at the last minute. But, either way, I appreciate it. I had a lot of fun, I enjoyed the show. I cant' wait to see what you guys do in the future. Good luck. [MUSIC]. Welcome back to the show everybody. It's like magic, producer Logan is Here and inside the control room at the same time. So if you, yeah. If the shot starts to go cockeyed or anything, there's nobody manning the controls. They just disappeared right out of the room at one point. We have producer Kasey who we borrowed Helping us out so thanks producer Casey. Let's talk about Tomorrow Daily, really a little bit because Jeff came in, like you were saying you came in a little bit late into the party. And so, Logan and I have been here since the very beginning. This is our 411th episode. And congratulations guys. It's been a long couple years. In various incarnations of the show. Various incarnations of the show. The show start on like a half hour thing and then it went this 20 minute sport as a week. And then, it was like hybrid and then, we have the short amount of time where we had to have a standing set. When we move to this new space but, I wanted to briefly just talk a little bit about my experience with creating the show and like how organize Sort of made this work because, Lets go to the history of it. Lets go into the history of Tomorrow Daily shall we? So originally when I came on board CNET had asked for a talk show. They wanted something cool and I had some ideas, and I wanted something that was fun and enthusiastic because, obviously, we're all fans of being enthusiastic about stuff. We're not cynics. And so, I love future technology, and it was such a no brainer to me to want to talk about the future. And so we came up with Tomorrow Daily and it was very exciting. and then Logan got brought on board and I don't think I think the one thing that people are unaware of is at the beginning of the show I was the only full time staffer for CNet in Los Angeles working on Tomorrow Daily and there was nobody in San Francisco who works on the show ever. Except for graphics a little bit? Graphics and smaller things. So. We outsource some things. We outsource some stuff and obviously we need that stuff to be built. And thank you so much to Viva Tongue and to Chris Pavey and Bonnie Gannon, who is our boss our direct report up in San Francisco, for getting everything together and helping us out, but once we hit the ground running we were on our own. And it was like, okay I was the only full time person, Logan had two hours a day. At the beginning, yeah. Able to come in and work on the show. And then it was just me like so I researched all the stories, I wrote everything and then welcome to come in and switched the show. Get all these graphics ready to go to put into the show and then everyone would leave and I would be by myself in a, [CROSSTALK] [LAUGH] Very tiny [INAUDIBLE]. Window [LAUGH] From Wicolo's control room and I would have to edit the show and then export it and then write the post and upload it. And it was certainly a trying time for me, I was very stressed out for the first month and I was like, remember driving home one day, and I'm like, I can't do this. This is so hard. I have never worked so hard in all my life. [SOUND] But then finally we got Logan some more hours. [LAUGH] [LAUGH] I'm still doing a lot of other stuff, but a lot of the things Logan was able to sort of help me out in terms of editing and things like that. But that went on for what, like almost a year? At least a year, yeah. Okay, well I think you came on more hours once Khail left. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So- It was about a year into it, a year and a half. A rookie year and a half. Yeah. So we had Rich DeMuro start hosting the show with us, and then Rich had his second child. And just, his schedule got crazy cuz he has a fulltime job at KTLA. And so we needed another host so we brought in Kale who was great and so fun and just brought a whole new level of excitement to the show which we really enjoyed. And then when Kale told us he was leaving for Yahoo! I remember we talked about him. How are we going to replace Kale? What are we going to do because we have to find somebody who is Who loves pop culture because we talk about that and we also have to find somebody who is a geek. We want to find somebody who's a science nerd, that's hard. And could tell corny jokes with the best of them. With the best of them, yeah, of course. And so- And my ears were burning. [LAUGH] Yeah [INAUDIBLE] it was weird because Jeff just happened to be parked outside of our offices. Honking. Hey, guys, a colleague of ours at GameSpot, [UNKNOWN], recommended Jeff, said what about Jeff Cannata. And I'm like we can't afford Jeff Cannata, like there's no way, he's like so famous. That's still true. [LAUGH] And so I was like there's no way. He's gonna do this for a couple hours a day, like no way. [LAUGH] And then we asked you. And we'd always, I'd always wanted to work with you. And that's why I agreed to do it. Because I've always wanted to work with you. And it turned out to beyond, I mean, you have exceeded- Aw. Every expectation so far beyond what I could've ever Possibly imagined. Same here, I feel the same way. And that you are a just great co--host who loves the things we talk about. That's true. And over the months of you co-hosting the show, it's been really interesting to see you make it your own. Like at the very beginning there was a little bit of [UNKNOWN] still lingering around the studio.>> Yeah. But over time, your personality has really come out and it's Really become a different dynamic between you and Ashley, that's made the show as great as it is. Thank you, I appreciate that, it's so fun working with you guys and this was all ready a well-oiled machine when I came on. And you guys were all ready doing a really, really high-quality product, and I was excited to be part of that. And I'm grateful for the host that came before me setting a high bar and It so fun working with you guys and talking about stuff we all like and geeking out everything, you know, I'm excited what we're going to be doing in the future. But, it is been such a pleasure making this show and having awesome feedback from people that watched it. Yeah, and I think that it's actually been the one thing that, like we've mentioned it before but, really you guys made the show what it was. Because I have always been Very adamant about fan participation. And so we came up with Phonetographer of the Day and use the feedback and things like that. We always wanted to hear from you, and you never disappointed us. Well, you disappointed us a couple of times. [LAUGH] Somebody wrote in That one, that guy right there. There was like, it's you. [LAUGH] But, generally speaking, it was such a joy to open up my laptop and read this hilarious tweets from people, see this amazing pictures from people Tell us your stories, we've had many classrooms watch Tomorrow Daily. We've had people show this show to people in I remember there was someone who said that they showed it in an entrepreneur class for future tech. I guess what we're saying is You've learned all you need to know. Yeah, we've given you- Go for it. Everything. Your training is complete. [LAUGH] You are now a Jedi master. [LAUGH] Yeah no and we had so much fun doing this. And honestly if I could do this show forever with an unlimited budget and a blank check, it would be amazing. Of course you wanna do things forever. But the reality is you know Things need to make money, okay? [LAUGH] So at the end of the day it just sort of is one of those weird situations where it's like you want numbers, but then you don't wanna force people to watch stuff. We never wanted to pander to you guys. We never wanted to be clickbaity. And so we just, we chose to make the show we wanted to make, and I'm very proud of 411 up- You should be. It's quite an achievement, yeah. Especially when you consider the day-to-day operations of two hour daily were literally handled by two and a half people. Yeah. [LAUGH] Sure. Jeff has other things going on, and he has his own jam and everything, but we're so excited about what's next. We can't talk about it too much because we're still kind of like figuring out the specifics but there's gonna be a couple of different moving parts and one of them will take place in the studio And another one will not take place in this studio. So, [CROSSTALK] And I think we're getting too kind of combine a lot of the stuff we really wanted to do for tomorrow, [CROSSTALK] Yeah. But couldn't because we were so confined in the studio. Because there's only two of us. And yeah, so I think, [CROSSTALK] Working day to day. Going forward we're gonna have this nice like, not, I wouldn't say compromised but like hybrid of what we wanted and what We were able to do. Yeah, one of the things that we always wished we could do with Tomorrow Daily is get out and do field packages more often. Mm-hm. And that was one of the things that we really struggled with. Because when you do a daily show, there is no time for anything else, especially when it's two people who are working on the pre and post-production of the show. It's tough. Yeah. I mean, there is no time in the day. And so, now we're excited to finally be able to have a little bit of free time to kind of go see cool stuff, you guys, and tell you about it. Yeah. And so it might not be a future tech thing. And it might not be a show in the traditional sense. But it certainly will be, Jeff and I will be all over it. Our fingerprints will all three of us be All over what you guys see from us next. But we're still at CNET. A lot of people keep asking, my god, you got fired, I'm so sorry. What's next? And I'm like no, no, I still work here. We're good. All three of us, we still do stuff for CNET, we're cool guys. CNET's very happy with us, I think, I hope. I think so. I think mostly [INAUDIBLE] videos, really happy about those. But yeah, no, I mean I think they obviously we feel valued enough to hang around and do more stuff. And everybody at CNET has Been very supportive of the fact that we're gonna do something new. Yeah. It's never been, god, not another thing from these bozos. No, I think they're as excited as we are for what's coming next. Yeah, so a little bit of candidness for you guys, a little bit of Hanging around, transparency, it's fair, I think it's fair. Some of you have hung around for 411 episodes. You deserve it. And you mentioned it a little bit, i bears underlining, thank you. If this is your first episode or if you just started a while ago or if you've been there since these guys all started at the very, very beginning. Thank you for watching and tuning in whenever you did. It has been a really cool community to see I get tweets every single day from people who watch the show. So it's really a pleasure to have that That kind of interaction with an audience. And if I can say one thing about our audience I would say that they are some of the most thoughtful people on the Internet. I go through the You Tube comments which is usually a place I try to avoid. A nightmare yeah. But the comments on our You Tube channel are always very like Informative about what the topics are. People have very interesting opinions about them and offer topics of their own. > > Yeah and so speaking of our amazing friends. We have some. It's Ice Man and Fire Starter. We have some very nice messages from some of our Some of our friends on the Internet. So for hey tv our very last pieces of user feedback. Fredo H says I hope you know this is where I come to get my future tech news so I'll become a lot dumber and less hopeful about the future without you guys. Hope the new show is like this still. I'm so sorry. You're not gonna become a lie dumber. Like, you're, you know, you have an interest in it and you're gonna keep growing that even if we're not around to help you cultivate it. I'm sure Freddy you're gonna find places to get that new. Also, may I have suggest we have concerns dot com. Right choice. We have concerns, excellent podcast where you can learn about future technology. It was fun future text Stuff there. Arnold wrote in and said, no more Tomorrow Daily? And then put in the Vader no, which I thought was very fun. Aw. Phil wrote, end of an era, again. A couple people followed me over from my podcast that I used to have. Thanks for the 400 plus eps, and looking forward to seeing what's next. A possum in your honor, that was like the be good humans of my old podcast. Dustin wrote in and said, sorry to see last show, best of luck to you guys on your new thing. Goat legs look like Redbull for robots, lol. [LAUGH] Goat legs. Goat legs, guys. What you guys don't know is behind these desks we've all been fitted with goat legs. [LAUGH] That's why we can't work here anymore. We destroyed all of the floors. We just jumped around and literally destroyed the set, it was really bad. Hey, tweets our out. What will Genghis the Robot's fate be after the show? Idle bots are world domination plotting bots, #robounemployment. Genghis has been given a new position in the new stuff that we are doing, so don't worry, he's not unemployed. Yeah. He's not yet unemployed. And the lightsaber will also be coming along with us. Dissonantfreq said, enjoyed the show, well I hope to see you in front of the camera and talking tech again, see you on #ByeTD. And Edwin wrote in and said, thanks from Netherlands for the fun and educational episodes. I've watched about 50% of them and Ashley & co-hosts were great! Especially @KhailAnonymous, which I wanted to end on that note because Khail actually sent us a nice little message and so did Jessica [UNKNOWN]. So we'll play both of those right now. And we'll take a quick break and we will come back with Ambassador Hackett, and then we'll do our final photographer of the day and say good bye. So Stick around, watch this delightful message from Khail Anonymous, and then another one from [UNKNOWN]. [LAUGH] Hello there, I'm sorry, I was just reading this laptop. Hey guys, it's me, Khail, I used to be on Tomorrow Daily, I just wanted to say a little piece about Just I'm gonna miss the show existing. I mean I missed the show the second I left. I miss working with Ashley and Logan. I had such a great time. It was a learning experience in so many ways. I got to learn so much about what was going on out there that I didn't even pay attention to before, whether it be science or whether it be Just medical advancement. It was a fantastic experience. I'm glad some of you guys got to share and be there for all of that. And I appreciate you guys be a part of that. And you guys sending in compliments, and just being really good people. All right, well anyway guys, thank you very much. And I love you Tomorrow Daily. I always will. [MUSIC] [LAUGH] Windows. Bye Tomorrow Daily and thanks for having me on the show to test that all that crazy Japanese candy but let's be honest, actually just come over to my house. We stuff our faces there. [BLANK_AUDIO] [MUSIC] Welcome back to the show, we bored you enough talking about. [LAUGH] Are reminiscing on the history of Tomorrow Daily. So let's jump right back into one of the things we love the most about this show, which is Back It or Hack It. [MUSIC] I have truly loved Back It or Hack It. It's great, so many weird, awesome, strange, depressing, the whole, runs the gamut- It really does. Of stuff. Just yeah, slightly terrifying for humanity. Lot of great inventions. I wanted to pick something super weird for the last one. And I- Love it. I feel like I found it. It's But Terra, the growing furniture. Growing furniture. Chair made out of grass. Yeah I wanna sit on that. This is really cool. I actually kinda love how they do this. So Studio Nucleo is making this, they. Look at that. You get theses, yeah, this is what it looks like. You can make a whole movie theater out of chairs. So you get this cardboard cutout. Yeah. And you assemble them sort of like those little paper craft things where you have like 3D models- Sure. And hippos and all that stuff. Yeah. Well, you Create it, you put it all together, you get it flat packed and you put it all together like this, you cover it in dirt. Covered in dirt. And then you plant crack on the top. I'm in love with this already. And then the grass grows and you got a chair. You have Hobbiton. It's Hobbiton Yeah, you basically, yeah yeah. But, nice little hobbit chair that you can sit in outside. If I had a house I would want to do this but, unfortunately I live in California, we are not allowed to have grass anymore. Yeah, we're definitely not allowed to have. As it's really. So cut what with 20 years of drought. Yeah. But if I did live in a climate where I could have this, I would be all over this. Right, like I mean. This is awesome. You never have to buy new lodgers. You just go and sit down and put a nice little cute blanket down and you can just. Sit on this lovely grass chair. It seems very comfortable I'm afraid I would be disappointed with the level of comfort. You're sitting on a mound of grass so it's probably soft depending on the grass that you plant in there. Maybe some nice St Augustine They need to do like lounge chairs and beds. Yeah, and different shapes. I would like to see that. They need to do all kinda, cuz I love going to the park and have a little picnic at the park. And you bring a blanket, and you're looking for like the right patch of ground that isn't too lumpy and is just right. And it never even [UNKNOWN]. You could literally create that patch of ground in your own house. You could totally do it, at your house and cities could buy these for parks. Amazing. And you don't have to worry about chairs getting stolen, or the space I mean there's all kinds of priorities. I want one that's just, a recliner that has, just slightly up so that I can just, Lay and read. Lay and read. The best. Love that. So, they want, they don't actually want a lot of money. Well, I hope not. It's only cardboard right? It is cardboard. It doesn't come with dirt. Or sod. I think that this is very interesting, is that They used to make these, and then they couldn't sustain the company. And so now they've come back on Kickstarter and said look, we've redesigned it. We're ready to come back but we need crowdfunding to make this happen. So. How much we talking? Let me guess. I wanna tell you how much I would pay for something like this, 39.95. 40 bucks, okay. They want $16,000, just under 17. Like more. Like $16,750, that's their goal. Right, how much do I have to contribute to get one of these shipped. To me. You have to pay the one I'm looking through. The early birds are already sold out. Okay. So there are about 80 bucks. That's a little more than I would think. Yeah. Cuz you don't get the grass. You don't get the sawed, right? Do you get seeds? That's the cushion. If you want the chair, hold on, let's see. If you want a full tera, there's a sofa, A sofa. I'm glad they have variety. Yeah, that's like a 170 bucks I mean, there's all kinds of different sizes and stuff. There's kid's chair, seem like a kid's chair. I dig it, it just seem like I'm paying a lot of money and then, all says a lot of work and also have to, I have to buy soil and grass, right? Still. Very true. You're just getting the cardboard thing. Yeah. Feels a little steep, but I'm still into the idea. I'm still backing it. But I do love this. Like, they're also doing things like the parakids school pack tier so I think, it's expensive. It's like $840 dollars. But it says, do you want to donate an alternate playground to your children's school. Here, in this pack there's ten para Kid's pieces. Yeah, it's cool. Some like 10 of them and you can like fill. I like also they have pictures of them indoors like a planter and you did a set of planter. Yeah, that I would do. That's pretty bad. A 100% that I would do like you have these weird planter and all of the sudden a chair grows out of it. Yes, I'm so in on that This is like the best thing ever. There is a food chain here in Los Angeles. I don't know how national it is but it's called Monesito Farms. They do sandwiches and they have fake ones of these. They have AstroTurfed ones? Yeah, like plastic fake grass chairs. Not as good, not as good. [UNKNOWN] Not as good, but at least it gives you that idea of how cool it could be. That makes sense. But yeah, Terra, so it's called Terra. T-E-R-R-A. T-E-R-R-A exclamation point. That's [INAUDIBLE]. If only there wasn't Global climate change and draught in my locality. I'm so sorry. But maybe there isn't in your area and you can grow a nice, beautiful lawn and a chair made of grass. And if so, then maybe [UNKNOWN] is for you. I'm all over that. That's a great final [UNKNOWN]. I really like it. It's weird, and wonderful, and exactly what we like here on the show. And then okay, let's Do our very last Into It. [MUSIC] Into It, I will miss Into It. I've found so many great things from everybody who's been Into It, everybody has these great ideas and different things. It was only appropriate guys that I end Tomorrow Daily's Into It, for me On an indie game, There you go. Because that's literally my favorite thing, is a cool indie game. And Jessica Chobot came in as a guest one day, we're friends, and she just recently recommended Overcooked the mead, and I was like I don't know about this. This seems really dumb. This seems like those little cafe games on iPhone where you have to like cook the, no no no. This game is Crazy Intense. It's intense. This is a game that will ruin relationships for people. You can play against people head to head and you're cooking. It's a couch cooking game. You sit on your cash, you cook stuff, and you gotta run around feed meatballs, it's crazy. And it's absolute pandemonium and sometimes your stuff will start burning and everything goes wrong and you're screaming. And before you know it you have turned into Gordon Ramsey even though it's so, so cute. You are the worst person in the universe. [LAUGH] You hate, we are just screaming over here. You have a shared controller mode where you guys are working together. It's not great. I'm just saying, it's great but it's not great. [LAUGH] I mean you will hate each other. [LAUGH] If you ever wanted to ruin a friendship, this is a great game to do it to. It's very clever, and it- You can put that quote on the bottom. It reinforces why Cooperative games are so fun. Local pull up. And like local coop, it's so hard to find great local coop games and this is definitely one of those games. I second your recommendation, it's great. And it's so much fun. It's so much fun, it's so much fun, it's ridiculous and adorable but, also infuriating. [LAUGH] And my three favorite things in an indie game and the best Swag. I promise you in the best way. And it's not that, I think it's like 16 bucks or something. It's not, not terribly expensive. But yeah, overcooked, highly recommend. Two thumbs up. My Intuit is a film called Kubo and the Two Strings. This is the new stop motion animation film from Laika Studios. These are the people that brought you ParaNorman and Coraline. With the movies I love. Love, love. This is my favorite of their movies ever, and I love their movies. First of all, stop motion animation, it's like a miracle. It is. It's like watching magic happen. It is. And this movie is magical. It feels to me like Legend of Zelda. This might be the closest we get to a Legend of Zelda movie. It's about a little boy Who has to collect his sword and his armor to fight the big bad enemy. And the adventure that he goes on is absolutely thrilling, full of wonder and magic, and adventure. And the thing that I've never seen, because no one's ever done in stop motion, is action sequences. Yeah. There are fight scenes, there are Big, bombastic set piece action sequences that they pull off in stop motion, and it is absolutely mesmerizing to see. The level of digital wizardry, or not digital I should say. The level of physical wizardry to create these Puppets that move and. I've always been fascinated- It boggles the mind. By stop-motion. I think it's a beautiful art form that we're losing very quickly to digital. And I'm glad that this movie is coming out now in 2016. It matters. I can't say enough about stop motion and I am biased because The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my all time faves and it means a lot to me. And I love Coraline and I love stop motion because it is really, it is tangible. You can touch it. It's a diorama world. It existed and somebody Worked painstakingly to move something an eighth of an inch for days to get it to do the thing it wanted it to do. It really is such a, any stop motion is such a labor of love and to see something like this is just tremendous. And the quality level, you will almost believe That you will almost not even believe that it's stop motion. It is so smooth now and it's almost too good. I love it. Because, it looks like CG. The whole thing is CG. [INAUDIBLE] say beautiful kind of claymation CG. Yeah, it is. And the best thing about it is the movie is good. The movie is a great adventure film you could take kids to Little scary maybe for real young kids, but man, so good. I'm gonna go see it this weekend, I'm dying to go see it. I missed this because of my, I was out Monday cuz I had a jaw issue and it was hurting me and stuff. But I was supposed to go see it at a press screening and I had to miss it. That was really fat so I'm gonna go see this weekend but those are the last into it. Please feel free always to come over to our Twitters and share you're into it. Any time with us. Tell us what's cool. Tell us what's awesome. Tell us what's happening. Cuz we wanna check out the stuff that you like. Yeah, honestly, this doesn't have to be the end of our relationship. We can still hang out, guys. We still. Still wanna hang out. So follow us on Twitter, I'm @jeffcannata. And I'm @ashleyesqueda. And let's wrap this up with a very last, and very beautiful, phonetographer of the day. [SOUND] I picked one. I just picked one. It was hard, cuz there's so many great ones. There had to be a last one. It's tough. But you know what? I was like, I said I'd pick like, cuz otherwise I would feel like I would have to have picked everybody's, and we'd be here all day. So, I pick Troy's picture he say's assign iPhone 4S. What a beautiful way to end the show. It really is. There's a double, it's a double rainbow. On the way. But, what does it mean? What is the old mean? Aloha Jess, Ashley, and producer Logan. My name is Troy and I live in Hawaii on the island of Maui. Tomorrow Daily is my favorite show ever since I saw the first episode back in 2014, I've never sent a phonetography before but since, the show is ending I wanted to send in a couple of the best pics ever. What's even more amazing is that these were taken on my ancient iPhone 4S, which I still use to this day. Does that even take photos? I know, does it even, I don't understand, they're lithographs, or tintypes? CNET test one, He says I took these pictures from my backyard in Kahului. I got right that time Kahului And, these unedited picture are the best ever because they show just how beautiful Maui is rain or shine. Of course, the information using in the show. Thanks again for all the great episodes and good luck in the future. Mahala, Troy. Trot, I want to go to there A. You live in paradise. Let's just put that right out there, if that's your backyard that makes me the most, you could grow a grass chair there. So many chairs. Guys I'm seeing so many grass chairs in this picture it's unbelievable. Troy please Please grow a chair. Just [CROSSTALK] Yeah grow a grass chair for all [INAUDIBLE] And B thank you for sticking around and hanging out with us for as long as you have. That's the coolest thing to hear. It really is. So that is it for our phonetographer. That means we are all done here at Tomorrow Daily. Our very last Show. Can I say thank you. No, I'm thank you. You did a great job. We should be very proud. We, honestly like I'm its hard to let it go. I'll admit and I am sure I've sure crying it is that the cameras shot up but this is been one of the great joy's of my profession or career and I am so honored to have been able to do this. And now I'm crying. So, all I can say to you guys is be good humans always, to each other and to people you don't know. And always be excited about the future because it's the greatest. It's like we're all gonna be robots someday anyway, so I'm sure maybe in the future we'll have a robot version of this show. Sorry Gangus. [LAUGH] But thank you so much for watching. We have enjoyed all 411 episodes of Making This for You and we will see you again soon on CNET. So once again until next time. Being human. Bye guys. [MUSIC]
