Our Editors' Choice-winning Garmin 3790T has an innovative buttonless voice command system; here's how to use it.

-The Editors' Choice-winning Garmin nvi 3790T features an innovative voice command system, but you wouldn't know it just by looking at it. That's because there's no voice prompt button anywhere in the interface, so, without a button, how do you activate the function? I'm Antuan Goodwin and I'm here to show you how. The 3790T's voice command system is, well, completely voice activated. Simply speak the activation phrase--by default, it's, "Voice command,"--and the nvi springs to life, asking you where you'd like to go and displaying a list of acceptable responses. For example, "Find by name," then, "Starbucks." "Voice command." -Speak the command. -Find by name. -Speak the name of a popular place. -Starbucks. -Did you say Starbucks? -You can also input addresses by saying, "Find address," then stating the state, city, and street address. -Speak the command. -Find address. -What city in California? -San Francisco. -Select a line number. -Line one. -What house number in San Francisco? -44. -44, correct? -For complex names, you can even say, "Spell street," and spell out the name for the nvi. When you're done, just say, "Navigate," and you're off. Spell street. -Spell street in San Francisco. -T-E-H-A-M-A. -Select a line, number, or continue spelling. -Line two. -Would you like to begin navigation? -Navigate. The whole process is quite simple and we're often able to set whole destinations without even looking at the unit thanks to its spoken prompts. Now, if you're feeling fancy and you wanna change that activation phrase, simply hit the "Tools" button on the main menu, then "Voice Command." Here you'll find an option that customize your phrase. Input any string of text that you can pronounce. We like, "Hey, Garmin," or, "Let's get a move on." The software will even show you how unique your activation phrase is so you don't go accidentally triggering the system. Then, just hit "Okay" and you're ready to start using your new voice prompt. -Hey, Garmin. -So, that's how you do it. This has been Antuan Goodwin showing you how to use the voice command system on the Garmin nvi 3790T. -Speak the name of a popular place. -Subway. -Searching for Subway.
