How To Video: Update Twitter using Siri

2:35 /

Learn how to dictate your tweets to Siri using iOS 6 on the iPhone.

-Hey. I'm Donald Bell and today I'm gonna show you how to tweet with your voice using Siri and iOS 6. This is something you can on any iPhone 5 or in this case an iPhone 4S updated with iOS 6. This should also work on a 5th generation iPod touch or a 3rd generation iPad. First, to make sure you have your Twitter account all setup. Under Twitter settings, make sure that the app is Installed and that you're signed into your account. Next call up Siri by pressing a hold in the home button and saying "send the tweet", after a moment Siri will ask you a question and that's when you tell her what you want to send. Let's give it a shot. Send a tweet. -Okay. What would you like to say? -Shooting a How To video. -I updated your tweet. Ready to send it? -From here, I can send or cancel the message by saying the word "send or cancel". I can reattempt the message by saying "change it" or I can edit it by tapping on the message. Once you decided to send it, Siri will confirm that your tweet has been delivered. -Ready to send it? -Send. -Okay, I sent it. -You can also do more advance messages with @replies and # tags, # tags are simply, you say the word "hash tag" during the tweet followed by the tag. -What would you like to say? -Hash tag Cnet. -I updated your tweet. -@replies are mentions are gonna have naturally if the person you're talking about is in your address book but for the trick to work you have to let Twitter scan your address but first do this by going back to settings then Twitter then update contacts. "Hey Brian Tong, did you get your new phone yet?" -I updated your tweet. -And here you can see that the message is formatted correctly. If you're trying the @reply or mention someone who is not in your address book, you'll have to add the "@" symbol yourself. That's all there is to it. Now you'll be tweeting out loud like some kind of crazy person. Isn't the future great? For more How To's like this, head over to howto.cnet.com for dozens of iOS 6 tips and if you found this video helpful, follow me on Twitter and use Siri to send me a tweet. For Cnet.com, I'm Donald Bell.
