First Look: Ultrasone HFI-2200

1:19 /

Ultrasone's HFI-2200 headphones score well on every count: they're comfortable, well built, and sound great.

[ Background Music ] >> Hey, what's going on everyone? I'm Jeff Bakalar for CNET.com. Today, we're checking out the Ultrasone HFI-2200 Headphone. Now, the 2200's are an open back pair of headphones which means that they really won't do a great job of drowning out noise around you nor will they do a good job of preventing others around you from hearing what you're listening to. That said though, we really like the retro design of the headphones and they easily fold up and fit into the included carry-on bag that Ultrasone provides. The ear cuffs and the headband are cushioned by a smooth velvet pad. They're really comfortable. It's almost easy to sometimes forget you're actually wearing them. The 2200's come with a 15-foot cable. It screws into the left ear cup and you can actually buy a shorter cable from Ultrasone direct for use for something like an iPod. Now, you're gonna use that shorter wire with an iPod because these headphones sound great when we use it with our iPod. Overall sound quality was excellent and the 2200's were able to deliver a very rich sounding base. Every source we actually threw out the 2200's round up sounding fantastic. Overall sound quality was excellent. I'm Jeff Bakalar and this has been the Ultrasone HFI-2200 headphones. ^M00:01:17 [ Music ]
