Twitter fail
I'm Dan Farber today has not been agreed to enter the site has been up and down all through the morning and into the afternoon.
I'm joined by Donna tam who's been covering this story for -- Donna.
Give us a little bit of the play by play.
So that the site went down this morning around nine and it looked like it -- -- -- our. -- issued a statement saying that they were working on fixing it and then.
It was fixed.
And then -- went back down again and then issued another statement saying okay our engineers are working on it --
And that they would keep on getting people throughout the day and then -- end up happening was after was up and -- from the times Twitter seven it was a cascaded bug.
Now what is a cascaded bug it sounds to me like it's it.
A problem that they had that they tried to fix and it created other bugs have.
Yeah that's my understanding am is that it can it was a failure within their own system that.
Kind of carried out through the rest of it and.
As the Twitter sphere came back there were some people who are saying or at least some perhaps some entity saying that.
-- been hacked but to Twitter itself doesn't seem to to go with that.
The cracked yes and they are saying it's a bug there was one group -- claiming responsibility saying that they're continuing to hacked Twitter right now.
But but we have no verification no confirmation at hand.
What's the overall impact certainly a lot of the Twitter users the addicts -- quite -- -- And vocal about it went on to other sites like FaceBook and Google+ talk about it but.
Is there an impact to businesses who who depend on on -- Twitter for some what they do you.
I imagine that there is because I'm a big depend on and a lot to send a message that the consumers and stuff like that and also -- to.
Is run. -- the customer service through that I mean imagine that they were also freaking out because there's been a lot of people to -- to through that medium.
Now Twitter is not the only big company that has fails.
And today in fact I think may 31 FaceBook had some down time so.
Is this just something normally users should expect that that these sites are not going to be invulnerable to two failures or crashes.
-- -- academy of reality and mean technology is and to filter spam to our thanks for talking to us think that me.
Forcing -- I'm Dan Farber thanks for wants to.
