'Twilight Zone' reboot will feature interactive element (Tomorrow Daily 349)
[MUSIC]
Greetings citizen of the Internet.
Welcome to Tomorrow Daily, the best [UNKNOWN] talk show in the known universe.
I'm Ashley Esqueda.
And I'm Jeff Cannata.
It is a new week.
That means it's time to hit some headlines.>> You are about to enter into a new dimension And if the reboot's any indicator it's gonna be futuristic.
I'm excited.
The Wrap is reporting one of our favorite sci-fi shows of all time will be getting a reboot, The Twilight Zone.
The report says the show will get a makeover that includes an interactive element that will change the story based on your choices, kind of like a Super creepy choose your own adventure.
They'll be working on that part with Interlude, which is a company that makes really cool interactive videos.
They're also saying CBS has reached across the creative spectrum for gaming talent, capping Bioshock creator, Ken Lavin, to write and direct the pilot.
Full disclosure CBS is in fact the parent company of CNET and CBS interactive.
But it doesn't matter cause I love twilight zone and I'm really excited about this.
Yeah we got the creator of her story is involved in this company.
One of the former heads of XBox entertainment studios.
Very exciting.
So this is a lot of really good talent that I'm excited to talk more about this one.
Me too.
There's a lot of talk this weekend about e-skin.
So you know we had to weigh in.
Two engineering students at the University of Tokyo's graduate school of engineering created this skin which contains a flexible OLED embedded display.
It's very thin and very flexible, plus a protective film means it can last days instead of hours.
So what's the use here.
Well medical use is the most obvious including blood oxygen and pulse monitoring.
But if we think forward it's possible that tech like this could be used to manage other health concerns.
Offer information if the wearer, is unconscious or even act as tiny video screens.
Are you ready to have roboskin?
Roboskin?
I'm ready.
Set me up!
It looks a little like when I was a kid and I used to put Elmer's glue on my hand.
And peel it off?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I would not be surprised if the actual skin was not made of Elmer's glue.
That'd be cool.
Yeah.
I was way ahead of my time.
six.
Yeah.
Be very future thinking.
[LAUGH]
So what do you want to talk about on Thursday?
Twilight Zone.
Come on.
I think we ought to talk about interactive TV.
And we can talk more about what Interlude does.
We can look into other mediums.
Obviously, VR is getting really into interactive content for entertainment, not just gaming.
So I think that's really a conversation that I would be Excited to have.
Let's do it, we'll be back on Thursday to talk about that, and some more of these stories that we talked about this week.
You can participate in that conversation too, just use our hashtag.
Hey TD.
Yeah, and if you use that hashtag and we like what you say or we don't like what you say, we might talk about you anyway.
[LAUGH]
So make sure to just use that hashtag so we can find it on Twitter
And with that being said, I think we gotta check out our phonetographer of the day.
Yeah.
[MUSIC]
Today's phonetographer of the day, is Luke, who took this with his Sony Z3V.
Yeah, Luke writes us, and says, this is Windsor Castle, taken with my Sony Z3V.
I'm Luke, and I give you permission to use this photo on the show.
I love, I love the UK, in general.
Mm-hm.
Mostly because everything there is so much older.
Look how gloriously foggy it is, too.
Than everything in Los Angeles, I know.
I like that he framed it.
It's already framed.
It's already, it's ready to be put into a beautiful frame and hung on a wall.
No, it's gorgeous.
I love it.
And it fits into our theme.
It does.
Landmarks, monuments, points of interest.
Thanks to all of you guys who are sending awesome themed phonetography this month.
Really fun stuff.
Yeah you guys are crushing it.
