First Look: Toshiba SDP93S

A high-res 9-inch screen, solid battery life, SD card slot, and DivX playback make this portable DVD player easy to recommend.

>> Jeff: Hey what's everybody; I'm Jeff Bakalar for CNET.com. Today we are checking out the Toshiba SDP93S portable DVD player. Now, the 93S is a 9 inch portable DVD player with an unbelievably cool 800 by 480 high resolution screen. And best of all it includes an SD card slot which you can play MP3, WMA and DivX movie files right off your card. The overall design of the player is very modern with a sleek white plastic finish. It comes with a standard 2 headphone jacks, an AV in and out ports, battery life was pretty good it lasted well over 5 hours on a single charge. Now we have the same complaint as we do with most portable DVD players, the remote works well but it's a bit too big for portable practicality. The 9 inch screen also swivels around and folds back on itself for hand-held viewing. And the portable DVD player is available online for as cheap as $160. Now, for that price and functionality it is the best deal out there when you're looking for a portable DVD player. The only DVD player with slightly better picture quality out there is the Sony FX930. But for the price, like we said with this one, you're getting a better deal. I'm Jeff Bakalar and this has been the Toshiba SDP93S. ^E00:01:29
