TomTom Via 1535 TM
The trickle down continues as TomTom's entry level, VIA Series, gets some big boy features and a new thin design I may have spawned Goodwinlistic of first look at the TomTom VIA 1535 TM GPS Navigator.
Now on the outside, the VIA's thin chassis was built around a 5-inch touch screen.
Out back is the redesigned EasyPort mount which no longer falls off as easily as the old design.
Rather than making the mount rotate,
TomTom has added that function to the screen which now reorients itself for dashboard or windshield mounting.
Inside, the VIA 1535 features TomTom's updated WebKit-based interface with reworked menus that surface the feature's most-often-used for easy access.
The OS still uses the TomTom trademark 2-Map System which is extremely intuitive or head-scratchingly confusing, depending on your personal GPS preferences.
Bluetooth wireless connectivity makes an appearance
in this model, allowing users to make hands-free calls with the unit's internal speaker for a microphone.
When you're not calling, you can also make use of that microphone with the voice recognition system with 1-step address entry.
By the way, the TM at the end of the model name means Lifetime Traffic and Map Updates.
I'll put both of those to the test in the For Review, which you can find over on cnet.com, which is also where you can find more cool videos like this one.
Well I've been Antoine Goodwin and this has been your
first look at the TomTom VIA 1535 TM.
