First Look: Tivoli Audio Music System

The Tivoli Audio Music System sounds good and looks great, but its lack of any advanced features will make the sky-high price tag hard to swallow.

[ Music ] >> Hi, I'm John Falcone, Senior Editor at CNET.com and this is the Tibally [assumed spelling] Audio Music System. This is a very high end table top radio cd player. Tibally Audio has made a lot of these models in the past and this is their new Flagship model. It comes in one of three colors, this is the beige walnut and it's primary attraction is just the really beautiful design. This actually is hand lacquered real wood cabinetry that just gives it a real luxurious high end look and feel. The front end is pretty straightforward. Just the over sized volume knob. We were a little disappointed that the buttons are kinda small and hard to distinguish. It has AM/FM radio and a slot loading cd player. It's also a dual function clock radio. Has the snooze button on top and a sleep function as well. While there's no iPod slot per say, it does have a auxiliary line in as well as a mix in. the sound was very good, but not quite the excellent we'd like to see on something of this price point. With such an expensive price, you'd expect something a little more than the beautiful design. This is the price of basically a Playstation 3 and all it is is a cd radio and alarm clock. That said, if you are looking for just a really luxurious table top cd radio system, the Tibally Audio Music System does fit the bill.
