The retro Linksys WRT1200AC router is just so stackable
Hi guys **** Ngo here and this is the WRT1200AC router from Linksys.
Now this one here is very interesting, actually there are three things worth talking about.
Number one is the design here.
This is the second from Linksys featuring this retro design.
That bid to that old WRT series that came out almost ten years ago.
The second thing is the specs.
The router here is bold, very powerful and also very modest.
Now powerful because it features a dual core 1.3 giga hertz processor.
256 megabyte of DDR3 memory and 128 megabyte of flash memory.
That's one of the most souped up I've ever seen.
[UNKNOWN] because, as a wifi router it features only the dual stream or two by two wifi set up.
And that means on the 5 gigahertz frequency band, it has a top speed of just 867 megabits per second on a 2.4 gigahertz band, just 400 megabits per second, now that is a lot lower than those offered by the 3 stream or 3 by 3 router.
Of course those are the speed on papers, in the real world you would never get close to that, but the more streams you have It's true that the most speed it will get.
And the third thing is this router here is very expensive at $180.
Now it's not the most expensive router on the market, but for a dual stream AC1200 router it is.
That's because you can find most of the AC1200 routers For less than $100 and even some three-stream routers for $1250 or less.
So the question is, is this router here's [UNKNOWN] performance enough to justify its out-of-this-world price?
The answer is, not really.
Now, don't get me wrong.
In my testing this one, here, proved to be quite a great router with Fast wi-fi speed for it's specs.
Also long wi-fi range, again for it's specs.
But for the money you can get other routers with better range and faster wi-fi speed.
Now this WRT here Yeah, it does have one thing going for itself.
That is when hosting an external hard drive plugged into its USB porting on the back.
It has very fast network performance via a gigabit network connection.
In fact it's the second fastest in this future, just slightly slower than its older brother the WR1900 AC.
So if you want to have your own network storage server without having to buy an actual mass server this is a good brother to have.
And for more of this one, you check out my full review at CNET.com.
Basically it's a great router and if you get it for free be very excited.
Not me though.
Because I also have the other more expensive.
And also better WR 290 AC which I brought here just to demonstrate the [UNKNOWN].
Here you go.
It's sitting perfectly on top, isn't it?
Just the way I like it.
And that's because I'm **** Ngo and this has been the First Look at the WRT1200AC router from Linksys
