3:49 /

Google unveiled its Android Nexus 7 tablet last week and so far, it's gotten rave reviews. Sumi Das sits down with CNET senior editor Eric Franklin to talk about consumers' appetite for smaller, cheaper tablets.

Hello I'm -- -- us and with its senior editor at CNET Eric Franklin Eric thanks for joining us -- -- -- So last week at Google I know a lot of people were able to get their hands on the so called Google tablet the nexus seven and you've been reviewing it since -- First of all. Did you get it on Wednesday I did I had did you wait in line no I didn't have to wait in -- had a special nexus and -- for -- see -- VIP line. Yeah exactly that's okay called I saw the 45 minute set up on the app slated coating that could tell you think -- I I like it out of -- PC my review but I gave it four stars. And I like a lot I think it's fast. I think it's really comfortable think it's really well designed. I love Android four point one that I'm not even a fan of the -- -- but I really really -- about what they've done with the latest attempt last guy out. The one thing -- I have noticed that the dreams come as an idea yet but I am you mentioned authority and a quarter hides it's kind of weird and right now in -- -- were conducting some official tasks we'll see what happens with that but right now it's. -- it does seem that anything -- you don't like it very. Alone. While I don't really like how the home screen doesn't rotate -- a little weird. Mecca I can -- -- understand why Google -- that is kind of basic unit for people who are used to the Android OS and that can be kind of intimidating but knowing how this. So long to press the home button don't worry you'll go back to -- home page you know it'll look exactly how you know you expect that it won't be. And landscape mode won't be and it'll be in portrait mode in the look exactly how you left itself economy don't get to me by this presses button you'll be. -- -- Now a lot of people are saying -- Google's going after Apple with this it's an iPad competitor but to me given the size and the price. On media you know -- I -- -- Adobe announced that they're going to be. Hi bill hunting there where they're going to allow her to purchase -- movies on -- -- purposeful TV shows. Before the richest rentals. They now have magazines and Google place where I think. That that -- sending a clear message to yes record after the -- market. And finally how does this change the tablet market. If your if -- out to buy a tablet. What would your recommendation be who should buy this who should buy this I think people that don't like -- around ten inch tablets in your purse or your backpack. I think that people who don't like you reach effectiveness of of the iPad and idealists. -- -- four point is just as flexible as it was in four point oh. Ice is a little bit more user friendly than -- -- before and on people who don't wanna spend a lot of money in the tablet yet this is a great tablet to get. When I do like about it is -- sizes you mention it conflicts of carrying this around much more than when my iPad but -- -- -- the fact that it's -- currently. Yeah you know. I'm not too crazy about that I mean for me I don't carry around tablets my bag and you know -- -- used by foreigners on my purse. You can go into that later but all -- let me know sold. You don't really have a need for a four G -- three G tablet. But I can understand people who just want to have everything at all times and access everything that -- -- Obama. As free people yes yes. I guess you're one of them Eric thank you so much for turning -- appearance -- For CNET continued -- to exert.
