I'm Andrew Hoyle for CNET, and I'm here at Motorola Event in London, checking out the new Moto G. It's a 4.5-inch phone with a 720p display, a quad-core processor, and more importantly, starts only $169, sim-free.
Physically, it looks very, very similar to the Motorola Moto X launched in the U.S. early this year.
On the back, you'll see, it's got this very similar curved design with the soft-
touch matte plastic.
It's not quite as customizable in terms of colors as the Moto X. You can snap off the back cover and replace it with a different color if you fancy.
It has a 4.5-inch screen rather than the 4.7-inch screen you'll find on the Motorola Moto X. It does have the same 720p resolution, though, which as the pixels are more tightly-packed.
It will be slightly sharper-- although side by side, you probably won't notice much of a difference.
It seems bright and quite bold, though, so it should be easily good enough for Twitter, Facebook,
and even playing some of the graphically demanding games.
Inside, it's running on a 1.2 gigaHertz quad-core processor, which is an impressive engine for such a cheap phone.
Now, we're getting around the interface-- seems quite swift, although how it deals with much more intense tasks remains to be seen.
It'll arrive running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, which isn't quite the latest version of Android, which is called 4.4 KitKat.
Although Motorola has said that it will receive an update to it in January.
The interface
is basically the same as Stock Android, so it's quite easy to navigate around, and it seems very swift to swipe through.
Around the back, you'll find a 5-megapixel camera, which has features like HDR, Panorama, and the slow motion video mode.
The phone is powered by a 2,000 milliAmp an hour battery, which Motorola reckons will keep it going all day.
Obviously, that depends on how demanding you are of the phone.
If you keep screen brightness on high and use Wi-Fi all the time, you won't find you get such a good time.
It might not be offering a big
challenge of a smartphone.
It leaked, but it's got a great line of specs for an extremely attractive price.
It'll be coming to parts of Europe and Brazil from today, and will be hitting U.S. shores in January.
