The HP Envy 23XT Beats Special Edition pairs a loud paint job with louder speakers
[MUSIC]
Hey I'm Nate today we're checking out the HP Envy 23XT Beats special edition.
Now this is a 23 inch all in one that's running Windows 8 and it's available for 149 though it's currently on sale for about 830 bucks.
Now I hope you like red because that's what you're getting here.
The speech branded PC is only available in this bright, bold shade that'll ideally pair up nicely with your Beats branded headphones.
I will admit, I'm kinda torn on the color.
I think it's a little too red, a little too bright.
I mean, it's a great color, but it really kinda stands out.
Your [UNKNOWN] might vary though, a lot of people here in the office really like the look.
The frame is fairly thin for an all in one, and the eight inch glass lends the whole machine a really sleek look.
It's almost sitting on top of a set of impressive looking and sounding speakers.
In typical Beat style, they're a little base heavy but the audio is clear and rich and won't fail to fill a room with sound.
There's also a little slide out hook for your Beats branded headphones, so obviously any pair will work.
It's a nice touch.
I'm torn on the display.
Image quality's pretty good.
Colors look bright and vivid.
And videos on the 1080p screen are sharp but look great.
But the glosses coating is really reflective.
I can get around that by just shifting where I place it on my in the office.
But it'll suffer in bright environments.
And you might not have as many options on where to put something this big when you're at home or in a dorm room.
Just like that.
Performance is decent.
There's a 1.9 gigahertz, quad-core core i5 processor, paid with 8 gigs of RAM.
And the machine has no trouble zipping around apps and the web.
It also performed well in less-demanding casual games, like Halo Spartan Assault or Asphalt 8 Airborne.
But since it relies on Intel's integrated graphics you can't really expect too much more.
There's also no discreet graphics options when you're shopping.
So you're kinda stuck there.
The machine is also saddled with a 1 TB, 5400 RPM hard drive, which is roomy but pretty slow.
You can get a model with a solid-state hybrid drive on HP's site, and that will definitely be worth the upgrade.
You can also spend a bit more to replace the DVD burner, here, on the side, with a Blu-ray drive.
I'd recommend bringing your own keyboard and mouse, though.
The bundled pair are wired, generic packing.
Not particularly bad, but not very good.
And so, we come to the price.
1,000 bucks, or 800, if you act right now.
Gets you a PC that looks pretty good if you're into flashy and performs rather well if you're not looking for high end modern gaming.
Now the display's reflectivity is a bit of a sore point.
You might be able to get around that but you're really going to think about where you're putting a PC like this before you make a purchase.
Be sure to read my full review.
I'm Nate Ralph.
Thanks for watching.
